Jacopo 2501Artist Talk in DTLA:
Do Art and Hotel Figueroa host a reception and artist talk with Italian Artist, Jacopo 2501, as the second talk of a new event series in DTLA, the South Park BID Art Talks. Moderated by Do Art Foundation Founder, Carmen Zella, the talk will highlight the work of Jacopo, exploring his subject matter, process and future projects: to develop art alongside architecture in the urban landscape. Following the talk, Jacopo will unveil his brand-new installation at the Eighth & Grand Building on 8th street, outside of the new Wholefoods, at which point participants will be invited to discuss the work and take photos with the artist while he is in town.
Hailing from Milan, 2501 began his career tagging Italian trains before migrating to São Paolo, where he honed his skills and experienced a stylistic maturation, evidenced in the elegant yet edgy murals that have brought him global recognition and admiration. Indebted to geometry and inspired by architecture, 2501’s murals are often perception-challenging and optically-stimulating, with his signature linear gestuality creates abstract illusions that are both hypnotic and kinetic. In addition to natural collaborations with architects and architectural firms, 2501 continues to explore global metropolises, small-town communities, and multi-cum-interdisciplinar
